Eldon D. Buell, 84, of South Bend, died peacefully in his sleep at 6:55 p.m. Monday,
August 21, 2006, at Our Lady of Peace, South Bend, IN with his family around him
listening to his favorite gospel music.
He retired from Tucker Freight Line, South Bend, as a mechanic.
Mr. Buell was born on August 25, 1921 in Warsaw, IN, to
Clinton and Winifred (Zolman) Buell, and was a lifelong area resident.
On January 1, 1941, in Mishawaka, IN, he married Emma L. (Picking) Buell, and
they renewed their vows in October 1961.
Along with his loving wife, Emma Buell, he is survived by two daughters,
Judith A. (Donald A.) Ruszkowski of South Bend and Andrea L. (Joe M.) Zappia
of Mishawaka; one son, Larry E. (Linda) Buell of Osceola;
seven grandchildren, Scott (Cathi) Ruszkowski, Rick (Chrissy) Ruszkowski,
Don Ruszkowski, Dan Ruszkowski, Michala Zappia, Damon (Nicole Radandt) Buell and
Kari (Jason) Nelson;
10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters,
Margaret (Chester) Schultz of South Bend, Kate Edwards of California and
Darlene Doolin of Mishawaka.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Benedict and Eileen Price.
Eldie had been a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1965, and a member
of the American Legion. He was a loving husband, wonderful dad, grandfather
and friend. He enjoyed golf, loved camping with his family and friends,
was a great fishing buddy, and in his early years he raced stock cars.
After retirement mom and dad spent many winters in Florida.
We will continue your tradition of making fudge and apple cake that you
loved to share with everyone. We love you and will miss you.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2006, in
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend, IN 46615.
Rev. Steven D. Latzke, pastor of the church will officiate.
Graveside services and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. today in the Palmer
Funeral Home - River Park, 2525 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.
