Irma L. Miller Zolman

Former Akron resident Irma L. Miller Zolman, 83, died
Oct. 27 at her Simi Valley, Calif. residence.
Born to Vernon R. and Versa Overmeyer Miller, she played
drums, guitar and saxaphone in her family's
orchestra until her father's death in 1942.
A 1936 graduate of Akron High School, she was one of the
first women to tow cars from Detroit to the West Coast.
She owned a hair salon in Beaver Dam and was active in
the local hairdressers association.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne Hoffman-Weisel,
Simi Valley, Calif.; two sons, Vernon D., Mishawaka, Jan
A., Warsaw; seven grandchildren, Daphne Hoffman-Scace,
Dana Hoffman, Danielle Hoffman-Killingsworth, all of
California, Dyan Hoffman-Smith, Nevada, Stefanie
Zolman-DeSchepper and Nate and Brad Zolman, all of
Indiana; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Heather, Holly,
Cory, Rocky, Gavin, Amanda, Brooklyn, Brock and Hannah;
two nieces, LuAnn Whetstone and Judith Sayger, both of
Indiana, and Tom Sayger, Tennessee.
Preceding in death were her parents, her husband, Maynard
D. Zolman, two brothers, Harold and Eugene, two sisters,
Esther Nickodemus and Irene Sayger, and one
granddaughter, Jacque Zolman Gizzi.
Services are Saturday at Granada Hills Church of
Religious Science. Memorials may be made to The Helping
